Vinyl Group has hired a new chief operating officer amid a reshuffle of its senior leadership team.
Jonathon Oake, a former global head of publisher operations and solutions (B2B) at TikTok, has joined as chief operating officer, filling a void left by Joel King, the Brag Media executive who stepped down late last year to pursue a new challenge.
Oake, who has also held senior roles at Foxtel and Optus—where he was responsible for operations across the telco’s content business unit—will be responsible for delivering Vinyl Group’s strategy into commercial outcomes, including operational execution, performance frameworks, systems and process optimisation.
He will be joined on the c-suite by new chief integration officer Jorge Nigaglioni, who transitions into this newly created role from CFO.
Nigaglioni’s new remit is to lead post-acquisition integration across the group, which includes the recently completed acquisition of Val Morgan Digital.
Meanwhile finance director Michael Globan will step up into the CFO hot seat.
“The completion of the Val Morgan Digital acquisition represents a significant step change in scale for Vinyl Group,” Vinyl Group CEO Josh Simons said in a market announcement.
“These appointments ensure we have the operational, integration and financial leadership capability required to execute at that scale.”
Vinyl Group owns several media and culture titles, including Mediaweek, Concrete Playground and The Brag, while is the Australian licensee of Rolling Stone, Variety and Refinery29.
Its acquisition of Val Morgan Digital adds the local titles of Ladbible Group, Buzzfeed, Fandom and Popsugar to its portfolio.
