True crime was a big hit for Australian audiences last night, with Nine’s new series Naked City: Hitmen pulling a substantial national reach of 1.94 million viewers and an average audience of 594,000.
While it couldn’t topple Married at First Sight, the gritty crime series still secured a strong foothold in the nightly rankings.
The three-part Australian documentary series, which aired after MAFS at 9pm, explores Melbourne’s deadliest contract killers, profiling individuals like Andrew ‘Benji’ Veniamin, Rodney Collins, and Stephen Asling. It also looks into the rise of Carl Williams and the underworld war in Melbourne.
Married at First Sight continued its reign as the most-watched entertainment program of the year, commanding reach of 2.87 million and an average audience of 1.92 million viewers.
Over on Seven, The 1% Club UK proved the network’s top program, posting national reach of 1.45 million and an average audience of 796,000.
Meanwhile, the ABC’s current affairs staple 7.30 delivered national reach of 1.39 million with an average audience of 864,000.
