It was another big night of television on Tuesday, but while Married At First Sight predictably dominated, all eyes were on the Matildas’ AFC Women’s Asian Cup semi-final.
The clash between Australia and China on Network 10 and Paramount+ drew a Total TV National Reach of 1,850,000 and an Average Audience of 909,000, with 132,000 streaming via BVOD.
Across pre- and post-game coverage, the Matildas pulled a total 2.2 million viewers, marking their biggest result of the tournament so far.
On the field, Australia defeated China PR 2–1, with goals from Caitlin Foord and Sam Kerr securing a spot in Saturday’s final.
Meanwhile, Married At First Sight topped the night yet again, pulling a massive 2,833,000 reach and 1,758,000 average audience, alongside a huge 601,000 BVOD audience – once again underlining its dominance not just on linear, but in catch-up as well.
During episode 27, the main focus was the end of ‘Feedback Week’ and the fallout from the intense “partner swap” task.
Following a “power struggle” and the intense drama surrounding their relationship, Gia and Scott officially decided to leave the experiment. The couple’s departure was prompted by a harsh anonymous letter from another couple, which Alissa discovered was written by Gia and Scott themselves, leading to accusations that they were taking a “cop out”.
On Tuesday night, news bulletins were also strong performers across the board. Seven News led the pack with a 2,187,000 reach and 1,401,000 average audience, just ahead of 9News which posted 2,014,000 reach and 1,246,000 average audience – both demonstrating the continued strength of early evening news as a habit-driven viewing slot.
Meanwhile, A Current Affair continued its reliable run for Nine, notching up 1,757,000 reach and 1,084,000 average audience, maintaining a solid audience flow out of MAFS.
Over on Seven, Australian Idol delivered a respectable 1,480,000 reach and 844,000 average audience, showing steady retention, while Home and Away remained a quiet achiever with 1,479,000 reach and 966,000 average audience – one of the strongest conversion rates of the night.
Nine’s The Hunting Wives told a different story last night. Despite a healthy 1,696,000 reach, it converted to just 388,000 average audience, suggesting significant drop-off and weaker viewer retention compared to its lead-in.
Game shows Tipping Point Australia and The Chase Australia also continued their dependable runs in the early evening slot, while ABC’s lineup – led by ABC News (969,000 average) and 7.30 (747,000 average) delivered consistent performances.
