On last night’s episode of A Current Affair over on Nine, Aussies tuned in to see the tributes flow following the death of legendary journalist George Negus.
Negus passed away aged 82 and is remembered as a powerhouse of Australian broadcast journalism by his many friends and former colleagues.
The Current Affairs episode featured interviews with Negus’s friends and former colleagues who paid to Negus’s accomplishments in journalism, highlighting his insatiable curiosity, trademark mustache, and swagger.
It raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,640,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,070,000.
Negus joined Channel 9 in the late 1970s when producer Gerald Stone recognised his distinctive style and hired George to be one of the founding reporters for the then brand-new current affairs program, 60 Minutes. Negus covered war zones and tackled interviews in a way that was uniquely his own.
Also on Nine, it’s the last week indoors on The Block as the teams tackle their final guest bedroom and laundry, with Blockheads giving it their all for the final push. A wholesome family reunion helped get them back on track.
The wholesome episode raked in a Total TV National Reach of 2,028,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,094,000.

Ricky and Haydn’s reunion included their friend Bridget, who Ricky explained is the sister of his best friend who died in a car accident 10 years ago.
“I made a promise to Lachy that I would make it and when he left, we were both young plumbers with a life ahead of us, heaps of dreams, heaps of aspirations. It’s my job now to make sure I accomplish as much as I can accomplish for both of us,” he said.
After the emotional reunion, the Blockheads were ready to get back to work!
Over on Seven, My Kitchen Rules gained momentum as it raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,599,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 862,000.
