All eyes was on Cooper Woods as he claimed Australia’s first Gold in Milano Cortina and the seventh in Winter Olympic history.
A total TV national reach of 2,632,000 tuned into Woods’ final jaw dropping final run in the moguls, which narrowly pipped the eight man field and even led to a rare dead heat with Canadian Mikaël Kingsbury. All locked up at a very high school of 83.60, Woods was awarded Australia’s first gold medal due to having the higher score in his turns.
A total TV national average audience of 1,083,000 witnessed world number 20 not only stun his field but also finally watch an Aussie receive a medal.
Stoked with the result Woods screamed to Nine at the medal ceremony, “I am Cooper Woods and I’m an Olympic champion. C’mon.”
Scotty James and Valentino Guseli will attempt to keep the medal momentum going in the Aussie camp, as they both take to the halfpipe finals tomorrow morning.
Seven’s most popular entertainment program was the Chase Australia which pulled in a reach of 1,209,000 and an average of 523,000.
The Chase edged out ABC’s Grand Designs Transformation, which finished in 13th spot in the overnight ratings. This was thanks to a reach of 941,000 and an average of 443,000.
