The fifth episode of The Voice’s new season aired overnight singing to 1.7 million viewers. The broadcast marked the halfway mark of the entertaining Blind Auditions, meaning the superstar coaches’ teams are filling up fast placing more pressure on the contestants to deliver.
The contestants did not shy away from the challenge, with three of them earning perfect four-chair turns in front of an average audience of 928 thousand people.
Charlotte Macphail aged 16 from NSW, 32-year old New South Welshman Lachlann Lawton and Jessica McPherson-Riley a 41-year-old from Victoria won over every Coach with their performances.
Singing Rihanna’s Where Have You Been, Rossini’s Largo Al Factotum and Wendy Matthews’ The Day You Went Away respectively, all three contestants knocked the socks off the judges, getting all four of them to turn their chairs—an action to get the singers to join their team.
Despite three perfect performances, Seven’s The Voice was pipped by Nine’s The Block in last night’s TV Ratings. The house renovating ratings juggernaut pulled in a total TV national reach of 1.9 million and a total TV national average audience of 1.1 million.
The episode was filled with drama with one Blockhead even labelling fellow competitor a “snake”.
“It’s a competition, they snaked me,” Courtney fumed after the chippy Roscoe promised her didn’t show up. Causing them to lose an afternoon of construction.
“They’re dirty players, and it’s good to know these things nice and early.”
Over on 10, The Traitors was the channel’s most watched entertainment program. The psychological reality competition series features players trying to uncover hidden traitors among them to win a cash prize. With a reach of one million and an average audience of 560 thousand the show placed 12th on the Ratings.
