It must be said of all the disasters of the Trump presidency his relationship with journalists has been right up there.

On top of regularly deriding any negative press as “fake news”, the latest allegation to have surfaced is the President likes to call his press conferences on the White House lawn, only to fire up his waiting helicopter – known as Marine One – and then pretend he can’t hear reporters’ questions over all the noise.

Apparently, it’s become so commonplace it’s been nicknamed “chopper talk” and even entered The Urban Dictionary that describes it thus: “An interview conducted in the presence of an operating aircraft such that the background engine noise can be used as a future means of deniability, obfuscation and/or other misrepresentation.”

Even more brilliantly, The Daily Show has managed to get footage of Trump “chopper talking” and mashed it together in a riotous 30-second montage that’s just been posted to Twitter. Check out the fun below:

And, as these things do, the video has become a viral sensation. Check out some of the better media reactions below:

“Well now his helicopter is going to be the next person to resign from his administration.”

“Somewhere Samuel L. Jackson’s head just exploded (as in reference to the famous “say what” scene from Pulp Fiction).”

“You can’t make this stuff up.”

“Like trying to talk to my dad when the telly is on.”

“’We have a helicopter here!’ The press needs to not show up because this is ridiculous.”

“He has problems on his eyes and ears. Remember the large fonts on the paper he read last week at the same spot.”

“Gives him time to make up a new lie. He isn’t as quick as he used to be when he had a real job.”

“In a tweet during David Holmes testimony he said, ‘My hearing is, and has been, great.'”

“Can someone please put this to techno ASAP???”
