Tourism Australia Leverages The Unlikeliest Of Bromances Between Stuart Broad & David Warner

Fiery English bowler, Stuart Broad and fierce ex-rival Australian opener David Warner, have created the unlikeliest of friendships together to showcase some fun holiday activities Down Under. The pair have been recruited by Tourism Australia for a three-part content series as part of the Come and Say G’day campaign.

The content series marks a significant shift from their ferocious and tense Ashes battles to promoting Aussie travel together. Instead of cartwheeling Warner’s stumps, Broad has found himself next to his ex-rival on Australia’s spectacular beaches and breath-taking golf courses.

The first video begins with the most unexpected text message to land on Broads phone. David Warner, “Welcome back to Australia, let’s hang.”

The video then cuts to the pair channelling their inner Baywatch, jogging down a pristine Aussie beach to the tunes of Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys. From here they begin a laugh-filled, exciting day, featuring beach-side beers, gorgeous ocean views, a scenic golf round and even a cheeky ice-block.

The series is an extension of the ‘Howzat for a holiday?’, which is a push into the UK whilst cricket fans are focused on Australia to catch all of the action across five Ashes Tests.

“The Ashes is a cultural moment that genuinely connects Australia and the UK. We saw an opportunity to tap into that passion and do something unexpected: bring together two players known for one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries to showcase the genuine connection and warmth that exists between our countries,” said Tourism Australia’s CMO, Susan Coghill.

“Stuart and David’s lesser-known comradery perfectly captures what we want UK travellers to discover about Australia. And it’s all set against the backdrop of a beautiful Australian summer. This is Come and Say G’day in action: creating timely, culturally relevant content that keeps Australia top-of-mind with high-value UK travellers when they’re booking their next holiday.

“It’s this kind of work that builds salience. Smart creative that taps into the moment and stays true to our brand.”

The Broad and Warner content series includes three main hero assets. The first two have been posted and the third and final instalment will go live this week. Additional behind the scenes content has also been captured and will be rolled out across the Ashes series.

The videos that have gone live have captured the attention of cricket fanatics across Australia and the UK. The first video published on Friday December 5 currently has 1.55 million views and 80,000 engagements, and the second posted on Monday December 8 has 2.4 million views and 148,000 engagements.

The UK is a big target for Tourism Australia as it is Australia’s fourth largest market in terms of visitor arrivals, and visitors from the UK contributed more than $5 billion to the Aussie economy in the 12 months leading into June 2025.
