Today the Brave has appointed Laura Mahony to the newly created role of managing director, as the independent agency plans to scale its full-service offering for the next phase of growth.
Mahony joins from Havas Host, where she was head of client experience, leading client relationships and teams across some of the agency’s largest accounts.
In the newly created role, Mahony will work alongside founder and CEO, Jaimes Leggett and the wider leadership team, taking responsibility for the agency’s day-to-day operations, people and client partnerships.
She led IKEA’s launch into New Zealand, drove Australian Federal Police recruitment through an award-winning true-crime podcast, and gave Fiji Airways its first-ever sonic brand identity, work that has earned industry recognition and a reputation for turning ambitious ideas into results that stand out.
Leggett said Mahony’s appointment marks an important step in the evolution of the business.
“Three years ago we started Today the Brave with a very clear idea of the kind of agency we wanted to build. Independence gave us the freedom to make different choices – about the people we hire, the clients we partner with, the work we pursue and the culture we create,” he said.
“We want Today the Brave to be the best place our people have ever worked. That means hiring brilliant people, creating an environment where they can thrive, partnering with ambitious clients and giving everyone the opportunity to do the best work of their careers.
“Laura brings exactly the passion, drive and entrepreneurial spirit that has shaped this place from day one. She’s brilliant with clients, brilliant with people and understands what it takes to make an agency work. We’re incredibly excited to have her help shape what comes next.”
“There’s an energy around Today the Brave that’s hard to miss. It has the ambition and momentum of a growing agency, but also a very clear sense of what it wants to protect as it grows,” Mahony said on her appointment.
“That independent spirit really appealed to me. The willingness to back people, make brave choices and build the agency around what’s right rather than what’s conventional. There’s a brilliant foundation here, and I’m looking forward to helping shape the next chapter.”
