The Marketing Club (TMC) has signed a new partnership with RMIT University designed to give marketing students greater access and understanding of the industry before they graduate.
RMIT students will connect with TMC’s community of almost 18,000 marketers across Australia and New Zealand through networking events, mentoring, educational panels and career opportunities, while TMC members will have the opportunity to mentor emerging marketers, share their expertise and help shape the industry’s future talent.
The partnership marks TMC’s first official collaboration with a university and aligns strongly with RMIT’s Applied, Authentic, and Active pedagogy to equip graduates with real-world experience, networks and commercial understanding employers now expect.
As marketing continues to evolve through AI and emerging technologies, both organisations believe closer collaboration between education and industry is essential to preparing work-ready graduates.
Founder of TMC, Chanel Clark, says the partnership reflects where marketing education is heading: “Marketing is changing faster than ever, which means preparing the next generation of marketers needs the help of people in the industry, it can’t be the job of universities alone.
“Students need more than a qualification when they graduate, they need relationships, confidence and a genuine understanding of how our industry works. That’s exactly what this partnership is designed to create.
“TMC has grown into one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest marketing communities because we bring people together to learn from each other, so we’re excited to extend this opportunity to support and mentor emerging talent which is more vital than ever for the good of the industry.”
Senior marketing lecturer at RMIT University, Daniel Rayne, says stronger collaboration between universities and industry is becoming increasingly important as marketing careers continue to evolve.
He said: “I’m very excited about the opportunities the partnership between The Marketing Club and RMIT as a Career Development Learning Partner will create for our students.
“This partnership helps bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce by providing students with invaluable industry-informed learning through exposure to career pathways, networking opportunities, skill development and the capabilities employers value.
“This is a genuine win-win partnership that will create lasting value for both our students and the broader marketing community.”
Over the past few years, TMC has grown from a networking community into an organisation helping shape the future of the marketing profession. The RMIT partnership marks the next chapter, creating stronger pathways between education and industry while opening the door to future collaborations with universities across Australia.
