Study: APAC To Be A Market Leader In Mobile & Handheld Gaming

A global market study on Mobile and Handheld Gaming has found that the smartphone platform type segment is expected to gain a significant BPS in terms of Value through to 2026.

The recently-compiled report by Persistence Market Research also revealed that the global mobile and handheld gaming market is projected to witness a CAGR growth of 10.3 per cent through to 2026.

Growing preference for unique graphic interfaces will remain attractive to the end-users, which is a factor will contribute towards growth of the global mobile and handheld gaming market, according to the study.

Moreover, increasing adoption of control sensors for full body is likely to fuel demand for mobile and handheld gaming devices.

Other factors that will contribute to the growth of the global mobile and handheld gaming market through to 2026 include:

  • the adoption of augmented reality (AR) with control sensors;
  • interaction and graphics based on AR along with audio-visual systems;
  • adoption of mobile phones and smartphones based on virtual reality;
  • growing awareness related to headsets based on virtual reality; and
  • an upsurge in demand for esports.

Mobile gaming segment to remain dominant

Gaming consoles among other platforms that offer handheld consoles will account for a large section of global revenues, according to the report.

This segment is likely to hold a market share of nearly 58 per cent in the global mobile and handheld gaming market by the end of 2026.

The report also found that the smartphone platform type segment is expected to gain a significant BPS in terms of value through to 2026.

By the end of 2026, Android – among other operating systems for handheld and mobile gaming segments – will remain dominant, with this segment likely to register a CAGR growth of 10.9 per cent through to 2026.

APAC to represent a leading market        

The Asia Pacific (APAC), among other regions, will represent a major market in the global mobile and handheld gaming market throughout 2026, the report found.

The market for mobile and handheld gaming in this region will represent over US$50 billion in terms of revenue by the end of 2026. The mobile and handheld gaming market in North America will register a CAGR growth of 9.5 per cent in terms of revenue.
