Spark Foundry Takes The Wheel For Cancer Council For The Second Year Running

Spark Foundry Australia have once again strapped itself in the drivers seat, taking part in this year’s Shitbox Rally.

Lauryn Pollard and Maelle Floch, better known as Two Spark Chicks, have begun their treacherous seven-day 3,400km drive from Adelaide to Darwin. If that doesn’t sound menacing enough, Two Spark Chicks are attempting the terrifying pilgrimage in a “shitbox” car worth less than $1500.

Fear not, however. The dynamic duo aren’t exactly heading into the outback in a rust bucket held together by duct tape. Their trusty steed is a decked-out 2003 Holden Commodore, complete with red rims to make it go faster.

Even better, the Commodore has already conquered the rally seven times, including last year when fellow Spark Foundry team members Dillon Gibbs and Matt Kuchel took it for a spin.

Ahead of the mammoth drive, Two Spark Chicks sat down with Spark Plugs to discuss what lies ahead, prompting some appropriately important questions from their fellow colleagues.

For example, Gibbs queried the duo on how they are feeling about the limited small access to showers.

Floch very much prepared for the journey explained that they’ve “got baby wipes ready to go, all packed up in the car.” Keeping her optimism for the betterment of the cause, she continued by saying “we’ll probably all smell together. It’ll be a fun stinky party.”

The Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 16th year. Teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 which goes directly to Cancer Council to help fund vital cancer research.

Two Spark Chicks have already doubled the quota raising $10,690. If you would like to get behind the dynamic duo please donate here. They will be raising funds for Cancer Council right until the finish line.

Supporting cancer is a Publicis Groupe-wide policy. Its working with Cancer program was established by the Groupe in 2023 to encourage employers across the globe to build recovery-forward workplaces by proactively supporting employees impacted by cancer or other serious illness.

The rally brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it’s through their own battles or through loved ones. Together all participants will make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.

For Pollard, like many others, so many people have been affected by cancer in her life. From very close friends to family, they have been impacted by cancer.

This will be motivating her all the way to Darwin.

Spark Foundry Australia CEO Matthew Turl has rallied behind the Two Spark Chicks.

“Three thousand five hundred kilometres, countless corrugations, a few camels, fewer showers, and one great cause: this is the Spark Foundry approach to fundraising,” he said.

“On behalf of all of us at Spark Foundry Australia, we wish Lauryn and Maelle a safe journey. This is an amazing opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the important work of our valued partner Cancer Council, and it will surely be the adventure of a lifetime.”

B&T is right behind Two Spark Chicks. You’ve got this team!
