NFL side (and Super Bowl finalists) the Seattle Seahawks carried a its “12” flag across Sydney, taking in the city’s locations including the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, Bondi Beach, and Manly Beach.
The giant “12” banner representing the Seahawks’ fans was flown this week to bring the Seahawks spirit to Australia in the lead-up to their appearance in Super Bowl LX.
The team, including Seahawks All-Pro punter and Sydney-native, Michael Dickson, will take on the New England Patriots.
“The 12 Flag flyover was a celebration of the incredible global energy of our 12s Everywhere and our commitment to connecting with fans around the world,” said Isabelle Van Coevorden Seattle Seahawks director of international. “Sydney’s vibrant culture and breathtaking views make it the perfect canvas to bring the passion of Seahawks fans to life in Australia and show our appreciation for the 12s.”
Van Coevorden emphasized the Seahawks’ broader international vision: “In Australia this season we’ve had hugely-attended watch parties, visits by our mascot Blitz, our dancers and Seahawks Legends, connected at community events, and built a large and engaged local social media presence. We’re focused on growing and strengthening our fan communities in Australia and around the world. Events like today demonstrate our dedication to deep engagement and shared experiences with Australian 12s.”
The Seattle Seahawks have a long tradition of celebrating the 12s, from raising the 12 Flag before every home game at Lumen Field to international events that unite supporters worldwide. Sydney’s flyover extends that tradition.
