Rupert Murdoch is proving age is just a number, tying the knot for the fifth time at the ripe old age of 93.
The News Corp chairman married partner and retired molecular biologist Elena Zhukova in a ceremony surrounded by close friends and family in Los Angeles yesterday. Among the guests were his son, Lachlan Murdoch and his wife Sarah, News Corp chief executive Robert Thomson and his wife Wang Ping, and The Herald & Weekly Times chairman and Murdoch’s niece, Penny Fowler.
Wedding in the vineyard of Murdoch’s secluded Bel Air estate, Moraga, the affair was donned with white and leafy green flowers.
The pair met at a family gathering last year, and Zhukova is 25 years Murdoch’s junior.
Murdoch has been married four times before this, with the most recent to actor and model Jerry Hall in 2016. The marriage lasted six years.
Murdoch was engaged to model Ann Lesley Smith last year but didn’t make it to the altar. It is unclear why this engagement was called off, but at the time, he confessed: “I dreaded falling in love—but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy.”
