Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, NSW Premier Chris Minns and Leader of the Opposition Angus Taylor will headline The Daily Telegraph’s Future Western Sydney.
The event is set to be held at the new Western Sydney International Airport today, ahead of its official opening.
The Prime Minister and Premier will deliver keynote addresses, with all three leaders participating in Q&A sessions moderated by The Daily Telegraph editor Ben English and The Sunday Telegraph and Saturday Telegraph editor Anna Caldwell. They will discuss the region’s economic transformation and the essential services needed to support its growing, multicultural population.
The event will feature discussions on tourism, housing and sport with speakers including Prue Car, Deputy Premier and Minister for Western Sydney, Simon Hickey, CEO of Western Sydney International Airport, Lisa Havilah, CEO of the Powerhouse Museum, Noemie Fox, Olympic champion, and Tayla Preston, NRLW co-captain of Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
Ben English said: “We launched our Fair Go For The West campaign in 2014 to tackle systemic funding inequity from all levels of government that was punishing the region and crippling its prospects. The new airport and museum are proof of what’s possible when advocacy meets action.
“But while we celebrate these triumphs, more work is needed to match Western Sydney’s potential with the housing, infrastructure and support this rapidly growing region demands. Our Future Western Sydney event is about maintaining that momentum and holding leaders accountable.”
