From the secret venue to the iridescent outfits, the Pinterest Welcome Party at Cairns Crocodiles 2026 did not miss.
They told us to commit to the theme. They told us subtle wouldn’t cut it. And on the night of 12 May, the Cairns Crocodiles delegates obliged, arriving in full galactic regalia, closed-toe shoes and all, to what might be the greatest Welcome Party yet.
The Pinterest Welcome Party, now a firmly entrenched institution on the Cairns Crocodiles calendar, delivered its ‘Extra Celestial’ theme with the kind of bombast only a Pinterest Predicts trend brought to physical life can muster. The party was held at the Cane Fields, just outside, which was the perfect juxtaposition to the iridescent textures, holographic details and opalescent looks.
The Cane Fields featured reflective surfaces, immersive art installations from both Sydney and Cairns artists, and a full sensory takeover made it clear from the moment guests stepped inside that this was far more than a networking drinks situation.
Pinterest’s ANZ MD Melinda Petrunoff had described the Extra Celestial concept as something ” immersive, expressive and completely transportive” and so it proved.
The theme was drawn from Pinterest’s highly accurate annual trend forecasting report, which draws on search behaviour from over half a billion monthly users. On the night, it felt less like a branded event and more like stepping inside a fever dream of a mood board, in the best possible way.
The party followed last year’s headline-grabbing bash — held in a former Bunnings warehouse with Ministry of Sound closing out the night — a very hard act to follow. But Pinterest and The Misfits Agency managed it. Return coaches ferried a very happy, very glittery crowd back from 8pm onwards, with the week of Cairns Crocodiles 2026 officially and spectacularly underway.
Roll on 2027.
