Entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins has issued an apology to UK pop star Dua Lipa for suggesting the singer had cancelled touring appearances Down Under to perform on a US talk show.
During his segment on Nine’s Today show yesterday morning, Wilkins noted that Lipa cancelled her appearances last weekend due to immediate surgery to have her wisdom teeth taken out, before running footage of singer performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live the night before.

“We were told that was live to air,” he said.
However, it turns out whoever told Dickie had their facts wrong, with Lipa taking to Twitter to slam the entertainment expert and Nine.
Lol @RichardWilkins if you were a good journalist you would’ve done proper research instead of talking out of your ass. Jimmy Kimmel was shot in Feb in La and aired yesterday. I’ve been in Australia on bed rest and wouldn’tve cancelled my Bruno shows if I didn’t have to. @9NowAU pic.twitter.com/B991bDQkUs

Wilkins was quick to apologise, tweeting back at Lipa and even sticking a “sorry” sticker on his butt during today’s episode of the Today show to highlight the singer’s comment that he was “talking out of your ass”.
Sincere apologies @DUALIPA. Didn’t mean to misinform. Assumed you were live with Jimmy K. your fans and my son have severely castigated me!
