A new Australian publication, The Fourth Wall, dedicated to all things theatre, live music and performing arts has launched.
The publication is aimed to celebrate the artists, productions, and moments that define live performance across the globe, told with a distinctly Australian perspective.
The Fourth Wall has launched its website and social media channels, which will be followed by an official launch event, in August.
The publication enters the market at a time where global live entertainment revenues generated USD $202.9 billion in 2025 (a 30 per cent increase on 2023), with the concert and live music sector alone topping USD $40 billion.
In Australia, live performance contributes more than AUD $2.7 billion to the national economy annually, attracting over 20 million attendances each year, figures that continue to climb.
Demand for in-person cultural experiences has surged in the post-pandemic era, with audiences returning to theatres, concert halls, and festival grounds in record numbers.
The Fourth Wall’s content includes a website, social media, a weekly newsletter, monthly digital covers and events.
Editorial coverage will span upcoming productions and announcements, in-depth show reviews, and rich profiles of the talent that brings performance to life — from actors and directors to set designers, composers, choreographers, and producers.
Further digital formats, a print edition, and an expanded events programme are planned as the brand scales, cementing its position as the definitive home for performing arts media in Australia and beyond.
The publication is supported by long-term private investment structured to support the publication’s growth and stability, and will be lead by Scott Henderson, editor and head of publishing.
Henderson comes from a background where he led Men’s Health Australia as editor and content director and has produced written, visual and live content for brands such as Rolling Stone and Variety.
Most recently, Scott has written for theatre productions across Australia, the West End and Broadway, giving him a rare perspective that bridges the worlds of publishing and live performance. He leads a growing network of expert writers and contributors spanning Australia and the globe.
“There is a magic to live performance that isn’t talked about enough. The impermanence of it. The high stakes. The fact that no two performances are ever quite the same. There are nuances to human artistry that technology simply cannot recreate, and that’s exactly what makes it so thrilling,” he said.
“We are seeing real growth in this industry, and it speaks to something deeper: a genuine craving for connection, for talent that can’t be replicated, for moments that exist only in a singular space, on a singular night. With The Fourth Wall, we want to break down the barrier between stage and audience and let everyone in on the stories, the craft, and the extraordinary world behind the curtain. Human performance at its best deserves a publication at its best. That’s what we’re building.”

Henderson will be joined by Rachel Sullivan in the role of director of partnerships.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to join The Fourth Wall at launch and help shape a brand that celebrates the power of live performance,” Rachel Sullivan, director of partnerships, The Fourth Wall said.
“There’s a cultural energy returning to the stage and audiences are craving real connection, and we’re here to amplify the artists and stories driving that movement.”
