As Aussies gear up to embrace pink and green once again with this year’s conclusion to the global Wicked Franchise, with Wicked: For Good arriving in cinemas on 20 November, Universal Pictures has partnered with Melbourne Fashion Week to bring ‘The Wicked Wardrobes’ to life.
Melbourne Fashion Week is taking place from 20-26 October and will see Wicked fans and costume lovers in for a treat with a free ‘Wicked Wardrobes’ exhibition at Federation Square.
The showcase will spotlight designer Paul Tazewell’s costumes created for Elphaba and Glinda in both films.
“Melbourne has such a vibrant arts scene and a deep appreciation for theatrical storytelling. It’s the perfect city to showcase the inventive style, craftsmanship and detail that went into creating the world of Wicked,” Tazewell said.
“Our filmmakers have created a truly spectacular cinematic experience. Partnering with Melbourne Fashion Week allows us to showcase that spectacle through costume design, giving fans an exciting glimpse of what awaits when Wicked: For Good hits cinemas on November 20,” Universal Pictures ANZ marketing director Suzanne Stretton-Brown added.
From 13 October until 26 October, visitors can experience the costumes up close and in person ahead of the film’s release the following month.
Wicked became the most successful Broadway film adaptation of all time. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the final chapter of the untold story of the witches of Oz begins with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) estranged and living with the consequences of their choices. When a girl from Kansas comes crashing into their lives, they will need to come together one final time and truly see each other if they are to change themselves and all of Oz for good.
