OMD has appointed Harry Jayaweera as managing partner of its Brisbane office, marking a return to the Omnicom Media Group network for the experienced media leader.

Jayaweera brings more than 15 years of experience spanning agency, sales and consulting roles. She most recently served as managing director of Carat NSW and dentsu X Sydney, where she built a reputation for data-led strategy and driving commercial performance, alongside a strong focus on team culture and inclusion.

Her previous tenure within Omnicom Media saw her establish and lead the group’s national Diverse Media division, helping brands better connect with Australia’s multicultural audiences through more inclusive and accountable media strategies.

OMD Brisbane managing director Alison Costello said Jayaweera’s mix of strategic and commercial expertise made her a strong addition to the leadership team, particularly as the Queensland market enters a significant growth phase ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Harry back to OMD,” Costello said. “She brings an exceptional combination of strategic rigour, commercial leadership and humanity, alongside a strong reputation for building high-performing teams and delivering meaningful outcomes for clients.”

Jayaweera said the move marked both a return to familiar territory and a new opportunity at a pivotal time for the state.

“I’m excited to be returning to OMD and taking on the Managing Partner role in Brisbane,” she said. “The opportunity to call Queensland home at such a pivotal time makes this role even more compelling.”

She added that she is looking forward to working with the team under Costello’s leadership to drive client outcomes and support the agency’s next phase of growth.

Jayaweera’s appointment is effective immediately.
