Medibank has appointed Myer’s chief customer officer Geoff Ikin as its CMO, filling the role left by Lisa Ronson following her tragic death last year.
Ikin had spent the last seven years with Myer and had held senior marketing roles at Tourism Australia, Westpac and David Jones.
A Medibank spokesperson told The Australian: “We were devastated by the tragic passing of Lisa Ronson. Lisa was brilliant, loved and a much-respected member of our team at Medibank. She touched our lives with her huge heart, and we miss her.
“Geoff and Lisa were good friends and worked together for many years with similar shared values to work and family. We like to think Lisa would strongly endorse Geoff joining the Medibank team, a sentiment echoed by her family Chris [Taylor, Lisa’s husband and a fellow marketer] and Ben [her son].”
Ronson was featured in this year’s B&T CMO Power List, presented by atn.
Ikin said he was “honoured” to take on the role with the country’s largest health insurance company. He will take the reins from interim CMO Carolyn Bendall in December.
