Sporting press conferences can throw up some weird and wacky things (take the NFL player who held one for three seconds just last week, for example), and this recent effort from a football coach was no different.
Ukranian club Shakhtar Donetsk had just advanced to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with a 2-1 win against Manchester City, and the post-match presser saw coach Paulo Fonseca wander in dressed up as Spanish fictional vigilante Zorro.
It turns out Fonseca’s spontaneous hat, mask and cape get-up was in fact him honouring a deal that if Shakhtar made it past the group stages of the football tournament, he would front the media dressed up as Zorro.
Appearing to enjoy every minute in the costume, Fonseca told reporters it was “the most joyful” press conference of his career.
