“Evolve Media, Formerly Gorilla Nation, Launches in Australia with Acquisition of MusicFeeds.com.au

Sydney, AU  June 3, 2014 — Evolve Media LLC., an integrated digital media company and parent company of Gorilla Nation Media, officially launched today in Australia with the acquisition of MusicFeeds.com.au—Australia’s largest music website for news and reviews. MusicFeeds will be housed under Evolve’s Gorilla Nation Media publishing and media services business unit. The launch of Evolve Media as parent company to Gorilla Nation Media and TotallyHer, its recently launched women’s interest and family lifestyle publishing division, marks its evolution from Gorilla Nation, as well as the evolution of the business in Australia and its firm commitment to local publishing.

Music Feeds first launched in 2008 and continues to focus on breaking local talent and covering local and international acts and music. In 2013, Music Feeds took over Sydney’s legendary Megaphon Studio, the go-to recording studio for most of Australia’s homegrown talent, as well as International acts.  The Music Feeds Studio has been a home to bands like Midnight Oil, Grinspoon, The Dead Daises, Birds of Tokyo, Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg, and many more.

The Music Feeds library of original music videos and studio footage is the largest of its kind in Australia, making MusicFeeds.com.au and its YouTube channel a popular destination for music fans.  Across these platforms, MusicFeeds delivers more than five million video streams. Music Feeds reaches over 500,000 unique visitors in Australia, of which over 71% are millennials (Nielsen, March 2014).  Meanwhile the site delivers over two million page views, sending over 70,000 monthly newsletters and engaging more than 65,000 Facebook fans a month.

“It’s been a great experience growing Music Feeds from a small music blog to one of Australia’s largest youth entertainment websites. I’m really looking forward to working with Evolve to take things to the next level,“ says Joel King,  Founder of Musicfeeds.com.au.

“This acquisition marks a milestone for Evolve Media as an enthusiast publisher in its effort to establish increasingly larger local publishing offerings. With our owned and operated portfolio of over 26 sites—including Craveonline.com.au, Sherdog.com and GameRevolution.com— Musicfeeds.com.au sits well within our sweet spot of enthusiast lifestyle and entertainment publishing,” says James Perry, Director of Operations for Evolve Media Australia.
