The 2026 Australian Web Awards, run by the not-for-profit Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA), will celebrate 21 years by introducing two new categories, the First Nations Showcase and the Rising Star Award.
The association exists to support and shape the Australian digital industry’s future. Through member events, professional development opportunities, and industry advocacy, AWIA aims to build a community of practice that elevates standards across the board.
The 2026 Australian Web Awards will recognise excellence across 32 categories spanning different industries, business sizes, and technologies, from digital transformations to campaign microsites, from complex web applications to crafted brand experiences.
A panel of over 50 independent judges will evaluate each entry against a certain criteria: accessibility, content, SEO, design, development, and user experience.
The First Nations Showcase celebrates digital work that represents Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, stories, and businesses. It recognises that great digital design must be inclusive and culturally considered.
The Rising Star Award spotlights emerging talent who are shaping the future of Australia’s web industry through work, innovative thinking, and contributions to the professional community.
AWIA rotates the awards gala between capital cities every two years, ensuring the recognition spreads across the nation and local digital communities get their moment in the spotlight.
Entries close on 20 February. AWIA membership offers year-round access to development events, industry connections, and a community of practitioners. The association runs regular events throughout the year for members, who pay an annual fee to participate.
