AMI Chief Lee Tonitto To Depart

Lee Tonitto has announced she will step from the CEO role at the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) on 1 December, after four years at the helm.

Tonitto revealed her decision to quit via a CEO update on the AMI’s website yesterday, which she then shared on LinkedIn.

“The AMI has been part of my professional life for over 25 years, so it is with mixed emotions I step away from the role of CEO. However, I am keen to develop the next chapter in my career,” she wrote.

“The organisation is at the start of its next three-year strategic plan the timing is right.

“It has been a privilege to lead the AMI to serve our purpose to provide cutting-edge marketing theory and practice to fuel progress in the careers of professional marketers.

“A special thank you to the AMI board, management and 400 volunteers. Together, we have strengthened the organisation and achieved a significant change in the last four years.

“I am proud to leave a strong and growing membership base and a vibrant community as my legacy, and look forward to seeing the continued growth of both the AMI and our profession.”

Tonitto has enjoyed a long association with the AMI. Starting as a NSW councillor in 2003, she progressed to be NSW state president before being appointed to the board in 2007.

Tonitto served as chair of the AMI from 2010 to 2013, and was awarded Lifetime Member status in 2013.
