Wavemaker has won the media planning and buying account for Novo Nordisk, the company behind Ozempic, B&T understands.
The WPP Media agency was recently appointed to the account.
The category is, unsurprisingly, heavily regulated.
As such, B&T understands that Wavemaker is tasked largely with sponsorship and activation work to promote raise awareness of the Novo Nordisk brand, rather than a significant traditional or digital media buying to promote its individual products.
Again, given the regulation in the category, B&T understands that a chunk of the work is focused on trade, rather than consumer marketing.
WPP Media has an existing global relationship with Novo Nordisk. However, B&T understands that this local win was not an expansion of that existing arrangement and is its own, separate arrangement.
As some other holding companies tighten their belts, this latest win adds to a fat stack of recent client wins for WPP Media Australia and New Zealand.
Last month, COMvergence data revealed that WPP Media won the most client billings of any holding company during the first half of 2026.
These accounts included the retention of L’Oréal’s media account, valued at US$91 million and Uber’s, valued at US$33 million. Its new business wins included Chinese automaker BYD.
Wavemaker and Novo Nordisk declined to comment when reached by B&T.
