Airtasker has taken a light-hearted swing at Hamish Blake’s new ‘Hametasker’ platform, responding the to comedian’s launch with tongue-in-cheek humour.
Given Airtasker’s reputation, Hametasker will have its work cut out for them. Assembling flatpacks and finding a plumber in at the eleventh hour isn’t the kind of chaos you can solve with a comedic cameo. Blake may have the charisma, but in the world of never ending to-do lists, Airtasker wrote the playbook.
In repsonse to Blake’s new endeavour, the Airtasker team hit the streets with posters reading “Hey Hamish, looking for a side hustle? We’ve got you,” creating social content that leaned into the humour of the situation.

Following the social media stunt, Airtasker extended a mock investment offer to Blake, proposing the platform buy 0.0000001 per cent equity in ‘Hametasker’ for a single dollar, implying a staggering billion dollar valuation.
Airtasker CEO Tim Fung said: “We believe we are uniquely qualified to make this extremely reasonable and not-at-all outrageous proposal.”
In the email proposal sent to Blake, Fung outlined some ground rules: “This offer expires 24 hours from the date of this letter. Because urgency makes everything more exciting. And in true startup spirit — speed matters.”
“If Hametasker is going to be a billion-dollar platform, we’d love to be the audacious investor who got in for a gold coin.” he added.
B&T understands that Fung has not received a response.
