MKR roasts Seven's rivals

Seven’s My Kitchen Rules (MKR) finished its first week on a high attracting its largest audience yet as the competition headed to Perth to see hipster home cooks Josh and Andi present their instant restaurant.

MKR went from strength to strength in its first full week, finishing with an audience of 1.655 million viewers on Wednesday evening, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

The program was also a winner in the 16-39 and 18-49 demographics where two other Seven shows, Home and Away and movie Forrest Gump, dominated the top three.

Returning to total people metro stats, and the next most watched non-news offering after MKR was the ABC’s Abba: Bang a Boomerang with 925,000 viewers. Home and Away followed with 897,000 viewers and a repeat of Nine’s The Big Bang Theory attracted 748,000 viewers.

Without MasterChef: The Professionals Ten was nowhere to be seen in the top 10 with Ten News at Five the network’s most watched program with 662,000 viewers.

Nine News won the battle for news war with 1.181 million viewers ahead of Seven News on 1.138 million.

Nine’s A Current Affair also beat its Seven rival Today Tonight with 1.078 million viewers compared to TT’s 1.026 million.

Seven won Wednesday evening overall with a 34.3% share of all free-to-air channels. Nine claimed 24.7%, the ABC took 19.5%, Ten had 15.4% and SBS took 6.1%.
