Mark Zuckerberg has made a series of posts on his Facebook account through which he informed users about a number of changes that will be coming to both that platform and Instagram through which they can monetise their content or even increase their income from both platforms.

The big news – and first on the Facebook owner’s comment thread – was that the company will not be taking a share for itself from content made by creators until at least 2024. This is a one-year extension of his previous commitment, as Zuckerberg had previously stated that users will not be forced to share a cut with the platforms until 2023.

Additionally, the Meta co-founder also introduced Interoperable Subscriptions to Facebook groups, meaning users who already have subscribers from other platforms (f.e. Twitch) can carry them over to Facebook and have them pay a certain fee every month if they want access to their private group.

A further emphasis was placed on the monetization of Reels, which Meta hopes can be the great response to TikTok. More specifically, the Reels Play Bonus is going to be further integrated into Facebook, allowing creators to create money from their content on both platforms.

Zuckerberg also stressed that non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will soon be added to both platforms in the form of Digital Collectibles, giving users the opportunity to show them off in their Instagram profiles. Further testing is being done so that posts containing NFTs can be shared on both social media profiles (Facebook and Instagram) at once. Also, through the integration of augmented reality (AR) technologies, Zuckerberg said that soon people may be able to share their NFTs in their stories, although that feature is still in the testing phase.

Via the new Creator Marketplace, people will also have a greater chance of getting discovered and reimbursed for their content, while brands and agencies will also have a wider spectrum to display their campaigns.
