In 2027  Paramount+ is set to bring A-list Hollywood stars to homegrown hits and some of the best kids and family franchises around to its content slate in 2027.

New Australian originals

Mushroom Murders* There’s More To Unearth is a new limited drama series starring and executive produced by multi-Emmy nominee actress, Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets, Don’t Say Good Luck).

In 2023, Erin Patterson (Melanie Lynskey) served individual beef wellingtons to her estranged in-laws and their relatives at a lunch in her Victoria home in Australia. Unbeknownst to her guests, Patterson allegedly prepared the food with highly toxic death cap mushrooms, resulting in the deaths of three guests. The limited series depicts the 97 days between the now infamous lunch and Patterson’s subsequent arrest.

In a more more positive note, Paramount+ is producing a show about Matilda’s star Sam Kerr. Titled Sam Kerr Kicking Goals, Paramount+ is set to bring a brand-new live-action series inspired by the life of Kerr.

Based off the hit book series co-written by Sam Kerr and Fiona Harris, the series is a live-action adaptation set way before Kerr became captain of the Matildas and Chelsea FC. Before she was one of the best strikers of all time, Kerr was just an 11-year-old in Western Australia, learning some life lessons along the path to greatness along with her best friends, juggling school, family, football, and all the obstacles and adventures of growing up.

Also coming to Paramount+ in 2027 is:

Hedley Thomas Investigates: Journalist Hedley Thomas is one of Australia’s most trusted voices when it comes to true crime. And now, the journalist behind The Teacher’s Pet podcast brings his unique style to Paramount+ with Hedley Thomas Investigates.

Across six self-contained episodes, Hedley will explore six true crime cases, unpacking each investigation clue by clue and offering fresh insights that challenge what we thought we knew.

The Inspired Unemployed Sketch Show:The Inspired Unemployed return to Paramount+ with a sketch show that takes them back to their roots and doubles down on what they do best – relatable
comedy sketches that have everyone around the world talking and sharing.

From fast-paced sketches around relationships to mateship, Australian culture and the millennial experience, The Inspired Unemployed Sketch Show will feature recurring characters, celebrity cameos and everything you’ve grown to love about these viral sensations.

These new Australian originals join brand new seasons of returning favourites including Last King of the Cross season three, NCIS: Sydney season four and Aussie Shore season three, which is now streaming on Paramount+.

Plus, Australian original drama, Who The Hell Is Hamish?, will premiere on the platform later this year. The six-episode drama features an all-star ensemble cast led by Dominic Cooper and Claire van der Boom and is based on the true story of industrial fraudster Hamish McLaren, and the victims who banded together to take him down.

Sport

In 2027, Paramount+ will be the destination for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027, with every single game in the tournament available to watch live on the platform, including our very own Matildas.
Football fans can watch every single match of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 exclusively on Paramount+, which kicks off in January, plus all Matildas and Socceroos international friendlies on Paramount+, and both A-League Men and Ninja A-League seasons.

UFC continues on Paramount+, with every UFC Fight Night, Numbered Event Prelims and the return to Sydney for UFC Fight Night with rising Australian lightweight Quillan Salkilld facing French powerhouse Benoît Saint Denis in February. Paramount+ is also your exclusive home for Zuffa Boxing.
