Insurance challenger brand Youi has appointed Angela Greenwood as a new chief marketing officer to head its marketing team heading into an anticipated period of growth.

Greenwood joins the Youi team from Optus, where she was Senior Director of Consumer Marketing, during which time Optus received the 2020 Mumbrella Marketing Team of the Year Award as well as being named Australia’s #1 strongest brand in 2020 and #2 in 2021 in the Brand Finance Index.

She has previously held senior marketing roles with Mortgage Choice and with UK based digital marketing agency, Found, where she worked with leading brands including Red Letter Days, Disneyland, Superdry, Randstad and Reckitt Benckiser.

Greenwood said Youi’s brand strength, focus on exceptional customer service, unique internal culture and its distinctive position in a rapidly evolving insurance sector were a very appealing combination of factors.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a successful challenger brand that’s dedicated to improving the Australian insurance industry by offering customers a compelling choice and adapting to the changing needs of the community and environment,” she said.

Youi CEO, Hugo Schreuder, said Youi has built a powerful brand with an enviable market position and he looked forward to seeing it go from strength to strength under Angela’s guidance.

“Since day one Youi has set out to do things differently, so we were looking for a CMO that is innovative, forward thinking and with a passion to achieve extraordinary outcomes – we’re confident Angela is the right person to lead our marketing strategy and team,” Schreuder said.

Angela will join the Youi team on 20 June and will be located at its Sunshine Coast headquarters.
