Australia’s newest parenting podcast, ‘It Takes a Village’, officially launched last night at Uber Advertising’s Sydney office.
It Takes a Village explores the day-to-day realities of parenthood while climbing career ladders, from newborn chaos to teenage curveballs, single parenting, and co-parenting challenges.
Backed by Uber Advertising, the 10-part series premieres today, Wednesday 4 March.

When arriving at the event, I was hit with a wave of energy. Vibrant dresses, belly laughs, glasses of wine in a variety of hands, and lots of stories being exchanged of career highs and parenting hurdles.
There was a sense of camaraderie that comes from shared experience – working mothers in media and marketing finally seeing their realities reflected in an industry conversation.
“It’s really important to us that we partner with businesses who have strong parent leaders,” Lauren Thornborough and Lou Wilson, co-founders of The Village, told B&T.
“The funded sponsorships we have enable us to bring to life the various events and now this podcast, and all funds are plugged back into what we can offer our community. We have big plans for the next 6–12 months.”
“Michael Levine has an incredible story of his experience as a working parent within Uber and that was a story we wanted to share,” the hosts told B&T. “An alignment with Uber felt right based on the support extended to Michael and his family. We believe in highlighting what good support for working parents should look like.”
“We started It Takes a Village because there’s a vital conversation missing in our industry,” Thornborough said. “We talk about KPIs and campaigns, but not daycare drop-offs or taking Teams calls with a sick child on your lap.”
Wilson added: “This podcast isn’t just about babies or burnout. It’s about ambition, identity, and redefining what it means to thrive when life doesn’t fit neatly into office hours. We want listeners to feel seen, supported, and part of a community that truly gets it.”
Designed as short, sharp 30-minute episodes, the podcast is tailored for busy parents who might be folding laundry, cooking dinner, or juggling remote calls – offering practical insights and relatable stories without requiring long blocks of time. It’s an approach aimed squarely at ambitious media parents who want authenticity, not fluff.
Guests on the programme will include high-profile media leaders such as Aimee Buchanan, Willie Pang, Georgie Nichols, Pat Crowley, and Pia Coyle.
Founded in 2024, The Village has grown into a thriving network of 900+ members, focused on connecting, advocating for, and supporting working parents across the Australian media industry. The 2026 expansion includes in-person events such as social mixers and school holiday outings, helping parents connect and recharge while navigating career and family challenges.
“We’re focused on creating more opportunities for connection,” Thornborough said. “Whether that’s meaningful industry dialogue or practical support during the school holidays, our goal is to make working parents’ lives just that little bit easier.”
It Takes a Village is now available for listeners on all major podcast platforms.
