Last night, Big Brother took Channel 10 by storm as its new set of housemates graced screens, bumping the network’s reach up to the top five. The reality TV show is set in its OG location of Dreamworld, which B&T visited last week.

The episode raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,480,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 774,000.

Viewers met 12 housemates from every corner of the nation, aged 21 – 49, with a 13th housemate set to enter via public vote – either 67-year-old retiree Jane, or 36-year-old Mitch.

Queenslanders turned out in droves to apply for the show, so it’s no surprise three locals made the final cut. Allana, 45, is a social worker and a mother of three. Next up is Bruce, the 25-year-old tradie with “old fashioned” views on relationships and gender roles. Dubbed “trouble” by those who know him, he’s certainly a bit of a wildcard. Rounding out the Sunshine State is disability advocate, Conor. The 31-year-old lives with Tourette syndrome, turning stigma into strength by cracking jokes, being the life of the party and happy to dive deep into real conversations.

All the way from WA, Emily is a 30-year-old primary school teacher. Fellow West Australian, Holly, a 31-year-old model who has travelled the globe for work.

From NSW, Colin, 21, from Wollongong, is an aspiring MMA fighter. Michael, 49, is a publisher from Sydney’s eastern suburbs. He is a single dad of three teens who would rather stay home and watch movies with his kids than go on a date.

Coco, 30, is a single mum of three who recently walked away from a broken marriage to start afresh. She has survived two tumours, chest surgery, and the heartbreak of losing her dad, and now she is ready to bring her wit and honesty to the house.

Repping South Australia is Edward, the 31-year-old sales manager who is the youngest of six and a twin. He has never had a girlfriend, but Edward has joined Big Brother to challenge himself. Abiola, 24, is a musician who wants to be “the first openly fat, black, lesbian on TV”.

Mia, 23, has stepped away from her gig as a Bunnings retail assistant to bring her energy to the house. A South Asian woman, Mia is passionate about inclusivity and representation, but she admits she’ll happily burn a bridge if needed.

Born and bred in regional Victoria, 21-year-old barber Vincent grew up making wine, salami and passata with his Nonno as part of the “biggest Italian family in Australia”.

Big Brother housemates.

The launch episode brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,480,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 774,000.

Over on Nine, it’s the final two weeks of The Golden Bachelor.  With only five women remaining in Bear’s search for love, it’s crunch time.

The women joined Bear at the Sydney Opera House for a ballet lesson, with each woman having a ballet move to learn with Bear. The competitive energy was high, with Kim very jealous of Sunny’s tenacity to go first, learning a romantic move with a lift. And as Janette watched on, she was getting more and more in her head.

But luckily for her, after the lesson, Bear chose Janette for a special date watching Sleeping Beauty followed by champagne and some dancing of their own.

The episode saw a Total TV National Reach of 1,897,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 708,000.

Over on Seven, My Kitchen Rules brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,991,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,013,000.

Over on ABC, ABC News Sunday brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,197,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 888,000.

On Saturday, A Current Affair brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,189,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 723,000 for Nine.

Seven’s Healthy, Wealthy & Wise won a Total TV National Reach of 1,006,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 354,000.

Channel 10’s 10 News Saturday brought in a Total TV National Reach of 674,000.

On Friday, Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens won a Total TV National Reach of 1,537,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 651,000.

Nine’s David Attenborough’s Asia brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,197,000 and a Total TV National Reach of 524,000, as Aussies relaxed with a good nature doco after work.

Lots of green thumbs watching TV on Friday night, as ABC’s Gardening Australia reached a Total TV National Reach of 1,027,000.
