Pundits had plenty to choose from last night, as Seven and Network 10 both broadcasted grand finals for hit TV shows.

Taking the cake for the most watched entertainment program of the night and the more popular grand final was Seven’s Australian Idol. The second part of the finale attracted 1.9 million viewers and an average audience of 1,088,000 as Kesha sung herself to victory. And we know what you’re thinking, how on earth was the American pop-star and singer of TiK ToK allowed to compete at Australian Idol.

But that’s actually because Kesha Oayda is a 21 year-old skiier from Jindabyne, and not THE Kesha.

After taking out the show, Oayda said, “I just want to say thank you to wardrobe, hair, makeup, the judges, the hosts, the lights, the camera, my teammates, my family, my friends, and Australia voting for me.”

She won $100,000, a recording package with Hive Sound Studios, marketing and social media support from The Annex, a place at a Sony songwriting camp, and red carpet tickets.

Over on 10, a total TV national reach of 698,000 and an average audience of 462,000 watched on as Caleb Beeby conquered Australian Survivor: Redemption, outwitting, outplaying and outlasting 23 other castaways to take home the $500,000 prize.

After 45 relentless days in Samoa, the Victorian truck driver delivered a game built on grit, loyalty and one ruthless final decision that changed everything.

Beeby’s endgame was nothing short of brutal. After winning the final Individual Immunity Challenge, an epic four-hour endurance showdown, he secured his place in the final two before making the defining move of the season, voting out his closest ally Loz at the final hurdle.

Facing the jury at the final Tribal Council in Samoa, Caleb owned every chapter of his game, from surviving early vulnerability to making the moves that mattered when it counted most, proving that resilience can be just as powerful as dominance.

Presiding over the final Tribal Council, new host David Genat guided the jury through their final decision. The votes were then revealed in Sydney, in front of a live studio audience, where Caleb was officially crowned Sole Survivor in a dramatic and unforgettable finish.
