The divorce lawyers might be circling (Alicia’s words, not ours), but Alicia and Sonny’s public spats on The Block are still doing the numbers for the program. Last night, it reached a total of 3,255,000 viewers and a national average of 1,731,000 – placing it first among the non-news programs.

The pair reconciled their differences – for now – just in time to put the finishing touches on their kitchen. The results? Mixed to say the very least.

Modern kitchen with blue cabinetry

Darren loved it, saying the couple’s decision to shift the orientation of their island bench was a huge “save”, and Shaynna loved the navy-blue cabinetry.

Marty, on the other hand, was “totally disengaged”.

“I really don’t like this room. There’s no elegance, there’s no sophistication; it doesn’t feel luxurious, it doesn’t feel expensive. I find this kitchen as bland as that cut-up plain bread,” he said.

With Marty a consistent critic of the couple’s rooms, Alicia admitted that she might have to start taking “it personally”.

Ultimately, with a score of 28.5, it was House 3 (Britt and Taz) and House 5 (Robby and Mat) who took home the joint win.
