Thursday night delivered yet another battle of the codes with the first game of the Women’s State of Origin series taking the crown overnight with a Total TV National Reach of 2,045,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 980,000.
The NSW Blues took out the first win of the series beating the QLD Maroons 11-6. The Maroon’s opened the scoring early on in the game to secure a 6-0 lead.
The game was locked at 6-6 in the 64th minute of the 70 minute game with halfback Jesse Southwell kicking a much needed field goal, followed by Jess Sergis scoring a try on the siren to seal Blues victory.
Seven’s Thursday night AFL coverage landed in third with a National Reach of 1,994,000 and an Average Audience of 768,000. The two Melbourne teams gave the MCG an extraordinary 93-93 draw, with Hawthorn’s Dylan Moore kicking a last second goal right on the final siren.
Despite the nail-biting finish, both teams were overshadowed by unnecessary skill errors, leaving everyone to think that it was theirs to lose.
Once again the game show’s displayed a steady hold over rating with Nine’s Tipping Point Australia in fifth with a National Reach of 1,457,000 and an Average Audience of 763,000. Seven’s The Chase Australia came in seventh with a National Reach of 1,383,000 and an Average Audience of 681,000.
Over on Ten, Gogglebox came in thirteenth with a National Reach of 901,000 and an Average Audience of 477,000.
