Nine’s second ever episode of Shark! aired overnight, with the new entertainment program snatching up sixth place on the ratings, behind game shows Tipping Point and The Chase.

The episode grabbed a total TV national reach of 1,518,000 and a total TV national average audience of 598,000. The audience’s hearts would have been racing as Lynne McGranger was pulled from the water appearing worryingly “lifeless” and “limp”.

The scuba dive incident had the 72-year-old’s co-stars worried.

“I was fearful for her, in a major way. You didn’t have to be a doctor and look at her and go, this is not good,” a stressed Matt Nable said.

McGranger was one of six Aussie stars undergoing a dive qualifier in the new series, to assess their skills, nerves and confidence in the water before facing one of the world’s most notorious sharks, the tiger shark.

The series follows Australian celebrities as they attempt to conquer their fear of Sharks. The six Aussies looking to metaphorically take down a shark is influencer, Tammy Hembrow, media personality and beloved Block host Scott Cam, Olympic swimmer Ariarne Titmus, hollywood actor Matt Nable, Australian actress Lynne McGranger and ex-NRL player Sam Thaiday.

But, it is the game shows that are snapping up majority of audiences on free-to-air TV. Nine’s Tipping Point was the most watched entertainment program of the night, pulling in a reach of 1,659,000 and an average audience of 910,000.

Tipping Point just edged out Seven’s game show, The Chase Australia. With a reach of 1,534,000 and an average audience of 813,000 The Chase landed in fifth position in the overnight TV Ratings.
