TikTok Set To Debut A New Twitter-Inspired Feature

PARIS, FRANCE - MARCH 05: In this photo illustration, the social media application logo, Tik Tok is displayed on the screen of an iPhone on March 05, 2019 in Paris, France. The social network broke the rules for the protection of children's online privacy (COPPA) and was fined $ 5.7 million. The fact TikTok criticized is quite serious in the United States, the platform, which currently has more than 500 million users worldwide, collected data that should not have asked minors. TikTok, also known as Douyin in China, is a media app for creating and sharing short videos. Owned by ByteDance, Tik Tok is a leading video platform in Asia, United States, and other parts of the world. In 2018, the application gained popularity and became the most downloaded app in the U.S. in October 2018. (Photo by Chesnot/Getty Images)

TikTok became a friend to all during lockdowns and the app continues to capture people’s attention and evolve.

Now we’ve all heard of Twitter’s retweet feature. Where you can tweet someone’s tweet onto your account – usually it’s a sign of liking that person’s tweet and wanting to show your appreciation.

It’s kind of like a virtual high-five.

Occasionally people retweet tweets to make fun of someone but let’s stay positive!

Well according to Life Hacker, TikTok is trialling a repost option.

Some users now are able to share videos with followers by clicking a new yellow repost button. You can even add a comment but it won’t be posted as your content.

Basically, the original creator is the one that will still be getting all the likes and comments from the video. So it works very similar to how retweets work.

The cool thing about this update is it really leans into making sure the creator is credited and also allows TikTok users to share and support their favourite content with mates.

Here at B&T, we are usually scared of updates because it involves learning something new but this sounds familiar and simple so we are down!
