The outcome of last night’s finale of Ten’s The Bachelorette Australia may have been predictable, but it didn’t stop a whopping 1.6 million people tuning in to the climatic ending.

According to the overnight OzTAM figures, The Bachelorette maintained a 1.3 million viewer average throughout the final episode, peaking at 1.6 million when Sophie Monk finally said those three magic words that contestant and millionaire publican Stu Laundy was praying to hear.

The 2017 series of The Bachelorette had an average national consolidated audience of 1.35 million – up 43 per cent on last year – and an average capital city audience of 1.04 million. It reached 6.92 million capital city viewers and 2.89 million regional viewers.

This year, the show ranked number one in its timeslot for the 25 to 54, under-55 and total people demo categories. The final episode was also the most-watched ever for The Bachelorette series on Ten in terms of overnight figures.

Seven’s Home and Away, the ABC’s 7:30 and Nine’s RBT were not even close in challenging Ten’s reality TV gun, all registering under 600,000 viewers on average.

However, The Bachelorette wasn’t the only show that brought home the ratings bacon for Ten last night, with Gogglebox riding on its coat-tails to record its largest-ever audience of 952,000.

Unsurprisingly, Ten won the overall network battle with 30.2 per cent, followed by Seven (25 per cent), Nine (23.8 per cent), ABC (14.5 per cent) and SBS (6.5 per cent).
