As we already know, the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics are set to be very different from any prior games.
Aside from the fact they are being held 12 months after they were originally scheduled, the Tokyo 2020 games will not bring with it the usual swarm of international tourists.
Already struggling to contain local COVID cases, the Japanese government has strictly prohibited international tourists from attending the games – after originally hoping the festivities could bring 40 million tourists into Tokyo.
So with none of its viewers able to attend the Olympics, the BBC in the UK has decided to bring Japan to the audience with a special new campaign.
The 60-second film is oozing with references to Japanese culture, while also providing a subtle nod to some of the British athletes who will be in Tokyo.
The campaign finishes with the line ‘Let’s Go There’ – an open invitation for viewers to support from afar.
