Ahead of its VFL return and inaugural VFLW season next year, Tasmania Football Club has appointed Ella Scott as head of marketing.
A proud Tasmanian who has recently returned home from the United Kingdom, Scott brings a wealth of experience across marketing, content, and consumer engagement in elite sporting environments. Most recently, she worked with The Football Association (FA) in London, following more than five years with the Richmond Football Club.
In addition to her professional experience, Ella has completed a PhD with research centred on customer engagement within professional sports teams.
As head of marketing, Ella will lead the development and delivery of Tasmania Football Club’s brand, content and fan engagement strategy as the Devils continue to build towards entry into the AFL and AFLW. Her appointment strengthens the Club’s leadership group as it continues to attract strong interest and support from across the state and beyond.
Tasmania Football Club general manager of marketing, public affairs and social impact, Kathryn McCann said Scott’s appointment was another important step in building a high-performance and values-driven organisation.
“Ella brings a unique combination of AFL industry experience, international code experience, academic insight and deep Tasmanian pride,” said McCann.
“As the Club continues to build, Ella’s leadership and experience across sport and marketing will play a vital role. Ella’s appointment is a great example of a young Tasmanian returning home to be a part of this journey, we are thrilled that the Club is attracting individuals of the calibre of Ella.”
For Scott, the role represents both a professional and personal homecoming.
“The Devils are already an iconic brand, and the opportunity to return home and be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity means so much. As a proud Tasmanian, I’m incredibly excited to help share the Club’s story and connect with our fans—both here at home and around the world,” she explained.
Scott joins as the Tasmanian Devils prepare for its return to the VFL and make its inaugural VFLW debut, after the Club was awarded the 19th licence in 2023.
The last time a Tasmanian team competed in the VFL league was back in 2008 when it competed for eight years from 2001. In its last season the Devils finished dead last, winning only four out of the possible 20 matches.
The Devils were subsequently booted from the league and Tasmania then announced it will be starting its own state-wide league to bolster talent down South.
The Devils will host VFL and VFLW home matches in Hobart and Launceston, with the possibility of also playing games in Penguin.
The Devils are hoping to join both the AFL and ALFW in 2028.
Ella commenced her role at the start of this week.
