Case study
Bendigo-based couple Amber and Nick Tierney (early thirties) have embraced the caravan lifestyle in a way that’s adventurous and relatable.
In 2022, they purchased their first Crusader caravan, the Musketeer Warrior, after using Swags and camper trailers. They worked full-time while living in their van for 9 months, then spent 5 months travelling Australia. The couple welcomed their first child in November, with a plan to move back to the caravan in February 2026 and hit the road again.
The couple went on a 5-month half lap in 2023, travelling WA’s coast, South Australia and Northern Territory, with frequent long-weekend escapes. In 2026, they plan to travel to Broken Hill and the Flinders Ranges before heading towards WA. After 20 months owning their first van, they upgraded to the Crusader Musketeer Palace. Additionally, Amber and Nick balance full-time work with long stints on the road.
