Sky News Host Samantha Maiden Suspended As Internal Investigation Plays Out

Samantha Maiden has been stood down by Sky News while the channel investigates numerous complaints made internally against the political reporter.

It’s understood Maiden – who has also previously worked for the ABC, Ten, Seven, News Corp, and the Australian Associated Press – was sent on leave late last week, pending the investigation.

Maiden’s suspension was first revealed by 3AW host Peter Ford, who said the complaints were made by her colleagues at Sky’s Canberra bureau.

“I’m told the issue came to a head last Friday, a blow-up between her and other staff members in the Canberra bureau,” he said. “It’s a small bureau – everybody’s expected to pitch in.

“But Samantha doesn’t think she should have to do certain things, as it’s been relayed to me. I might add this has nothing to do with alcohol. But yes, her future is a little unclear. She’s certainly not been fired – it’s up to HR and management what happens next.”

A Sky News spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by B&T, saying: “We do not comment on internal staff matters.”
