ANZ has appointed Sian Chadwick as its CMO, effective immediately, in addition to her current role as general manager marketing, Australia Retail.
Astrud Burgess, had served as CMO while also leading ANZ New Zealand’s customer propositions portfolio. As part of the change, Burgess will step down from the CMO role and continue as MD customer propositions, New Zealand.
Chadwick will assume enterprise-wide accountability for ANZ’s marketing agenda, including brand strategy and identity, marketing effectiveness, governance of marketing investment, and coordination of marketing activity across the Group.
Commenting on the appointment, ANZ group executive, Australia Retail, Pedro Rodeia, said: “Sian is a highly respected marketing leader with deep expertise across brand, customer engagement and transformation. She is highly regarded for building capability, bringing teams together and delivering strong outcomes for customers and the business. We are delighted to appoint her as ANZ’s Chief Marketing Officer and look forward to her leadership as we continue to strengthen our marketing effectiveness and customer focus.”
Chadwick said she was honoured to take on the role of CMO and general manager marketing, Australia retail, at such an important time for ANZ.
“I’m excited to build on the strong foundations established by Astrud and the team, continuing to strengthen our marketing capability, enhance how we measure impact and ensure every marketing investment delivers value for our customers and the business. We have a strong brand, talented teams, and a clear opportunity to deepen customer relationships through our marketing.”
Rodeia also acknowledged Burgess’ contribution as CMO over the past three years.
“Astrud has made a significant contribution to ANZ’s marketing function, strengthening our marketing capability and measurement practices, leading the rollout of our new brand identity and championing marketing’s role as a strategic driver of customer and business growth. We thank Astrud for her leadership and wish her every success as she continues to lead Customer Propositions in New Zealand.”
This isn’t the only large change underway at ANZ. The bank is understood to be in the latter stages of its media agency review which re-started earlier this year.
