Linear and BVOD TV accounts for 60.4 per cent of all TV viewing, according to new data from OzTAM.
Digital video, including streaming services and online video platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube, accounted for the remaining 39.6 per cent.
The data comes from OzTAM’s latest Streamscape data for the second quarter of 2026 which covers the period April to June 2026.
The latest Streamscape data also highlights changing patterns within digital video services. Among individual services, YouTube accounted for 11.3 per cent share of Total Video viewing on TV sets, an increase of 0.9 percentage points on the previous quarter, with growth recorded across all major demographic groups.
Across Total Video, viewing habits continue to vary by age. Among Australians aged 18-39, Digital Video represented 60.7 per cent of viewing on TV sets, while among the key advertising demographic of people aged 25-54, viewing was almost evenly split between Total TV (50.1 per cent) and Digital Video (49.9 per cent).
Detailed demographic breakdowns, including by age and gender, are available to Streamscape subscribers through the interactive dashboard.
“Streamscape continues to provide the most complete view of how Australians engage with video across broadcast television, BVOD and digital video services,” said Karen Halligan, CEO of OzTAM.
“The Q2 data reinforces the enduring strength of Total TV, while also highlighting how viewing behaviours continue to evolve across different platforms, services and audiences.”
Introduced earlier this year, the Streamscapedashboard replaces the former quarterly report, giving subscribers access to richer, personalised analysis and customised reporting, with deeper insights into viewing trends across platforms, devices and demographics over time.
