Omnicom media agency OMD has been granted a one-year extension on its contract with the NSW Government through to September 2027.
It is the second time that the The Department of Customer Service (DCS) has extended OMD’s media contract, which was last valued at $70 million.
The agreement covers media strategy, media planning and buying, rate negotiation, campaign management, recruitment, public notices and reporting/post campaign analysis.
B&T received a statement from a DCS spokesperson, confirming the extension.
“The DCS oversees the NSW Government’s all-of-government Media Agency Services (MAS) contract for media buying and placement of government advertising. The second one-year extension option under the agreement has been exercised by DCS,” the spokesperson said.
“This extends the contract term from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027.
“The all-of-government Media Agency Services (MAS) contract ensures government agencies receive consistent service and strategic advice while maximising value for taxpayers.”
OMD first won the account in 2022 following a rigorous two-stage tender process across a 12 month period. The contract awarded to OMD in 2022, consolidated an existing panel of five media agencies into a single supplier. As a result it was expected to save NSW taxpayers more than $100 million across three years.
OMD also works with the WA and Victorian Government.
B&T has contacted NSW Government for comment. OMD declined to comment.
