Channel Nine and Channel Seven have been left red-faced for spruiking Katy Perry’s appearances on the respective TV channels as “live”, after photos leaked online proved that they were anything but.

Nine has come under scrutiny after promising fans that the US singer would perform live during The Voice grand finale last night.

However, as Perry’s “live” performance of her song Swish Swish was shown on TV screens across Australia, she was actually preparing to fly out of Sydney, according to photos released online.

Meanwhile, Seven was also trying to cash in on Perry’s visit, promoting her co-hosting appearance on Sunrise this morning as “live”.

However, Sunrise executive producer Michael Pell said the program had already “made well known” to viewers that Perry’s segments were pre-recorded.

Big thanks to @katyperry for co-hosting @sunriseon7. We recorded her bits on the weekend, which we made well known all last week. pic.twitter.com/Vp32a4sExF
