Nine Expands Reach For 9Now With PlayStation 4 & Fetch TV

The Nine Network has announced a major expansion of the audience reach for 9Now, confirming the on-demand streaming platform is now available on PlayStation 4 and Fetch TV.

Nine’s deal with Fetch TV means that 9Now is now available to customers across a number of the major telcos, including Optus, iiNet, Dodo, iPrimus, and Internode.

Fetch TV CEO Scott Lorson said he was thrilled with the addition of 9Now to the internet pay TV provider’s offering.

“Time-shifting is a key component of the free-to-air experience on Fetch TV, and one that is greatly valued by our subscribers,” he said.

The launch of 9Now on PlayStation 4 is the first time the video streaming platform has been available on the popular gaming console. Nine also announced it would make 9Now available on select Sony Smart TVs in early 2017.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Michael Ephraim, said introducing 9Now to PlayStation 4 truly complements the broad suite of services already available on the console.

“Tuning in to 9Now or your favourite entertainment service has never been easier, thanks to the recent launch of our Universal Media Remote,” he said.

Nine’s general manager of product and digital operations, Niamh Collins, said the network has worked hard over the course of 2016 to make sure 9Now is available on as many devices and platofrms as possible.

“[The] launch on both PlayStation’s PS4 and Fetch TV represents a major jump in the audience reach of our platform, and will help us continue to drive growth in the 9Now subscriber base, which currently stands at more than 2.3 million,” she said.
