One of Meta’s Australian leaders has decided to leave her role after 14 years at social media platform.
Group industry director Naomi Shepherd, one of Australia’s leading tech executives, revealed she was exiting her post on LinkedIn.
“I’ve been here longer than most, which gives you a different perspective on a place like this. I’ve seen it grow and evolve a few times over,” she wrote.
“What I’ll take with me most is the people. The teams I’ve built and worked alongside. People who care about the work, who back each other, who say the thing that needs to be said, and who know when to have a laugh.
“To my clients and partners across ANZ, thank you. The trust and the willingness to be challenged and to challenge back has been a big part of what made this role so rewarding.
“I care a lot about how people show up at work. The tone you set, and the way you make people feel has always mattered to me more than anything else. I’m so proud of what we’ve built, and I’m looking forward to what’s next!”
Shepherd leads Facebook’s client-facing teams across Australia and New Zealand and has previously been a part of the Women Leading Tech Power List and B&T’s Women In Media Awards.
She joined Facebook as a client partner in 2012 and worked her way to head of FMCG and then head of brand for a decade, before taking on the role of Meta group industry director in 2017.
Prior to her Meta career, she worked for radio networks including Clear Channel, Nova Entertainment, Global and SCA.
In a statement, Will Easton, managing director Meta Australia & New Zealand, told B&T:
“Naomi has been a great colleague and leader, and a hugely valued part of our team for almost 14 years. In the 13 years I’ve worked alongside her, I’ve seen the heart, sound judgement and real grit she brings to everything she does. She’s made a lasting difference to our team, our partners, and our culture. We’re going to miss her a great deal, but we’re incredibly proud of what she’s achieved here, and we’ll be cheering her on in whatever comes next.”
