McCann has appointed multi award winning creatives Josh Aitken (left in photo) and Willy Maitland (right) as the agency continues to build its national creative offering.
Aitken joins McCann, part of Australia’s newest independent network, HERO, from Clemenger BBDO and AMV BBDO London. Aitken has created stand out campaigns including V Energy The Procrastination Place, Hiscox The Hack, and Tourism Australia’s Gold Lion winning Aussie News Today. He also helped launch and run Clemenger’s social and content offering FLARE. He joins the team as Creative Director.
Maitlan joins the team from AnalogFolk and Clemenger BBDO. His greatest hits include Hungry Jack’s Burger Phone, Extra Support Acts, Boss Coffee How Japan Can, V Energy The Procrastination Place and Welcome to Reckorderland. Maitland is also the youngest person ever to teach at AWARD school and was awarded B&T Creative of the Year, 30 under 30.
Their work has been awarded at Cannes, D&AD, The Webbys, Effies, AWARD Awards, Caples, New York Festival and Spikes.
Chief creative officer, Ben Coulson said, “Josh and Willy are ace! As professionals and as people. They’re not quite normal, in a very good way. I think they’ll fit right in. Welcome guys, hope it’s a great gig for you!”
Aitken and Maitland said: “We’d probably take a job at Blockbuster Video if it meant working with Coulson again. Luckily, unlike Blockbuster, McCann and Hero Group are developing a creatively-driven business that’s vibrant and a little weird. We’re excited to be part of this.”
The creative duo are a vital part of McCann’s national creative team and will work together to help lead the creative output for Mastercard, Coca Cola, eBay, Microsoft and Menulog.
